December 2010

At our November meeting, we collected these cute stuffed animals for the local police department.

They are now riding in patrol cars ready and waiting to comfort little children in times of need.
We also welcomed Carole back into our chapter!

Our December altruistic project is complete and Christmas gifts are on their way to a local "angel."
Thanks to all of you for your participation in our chapter!

If you haven't paid your dues this year ($60), the LAST date possible is at the December meeting.
Speaking of the December meeting...please remember our Christmas brunch is this Saturday, Dec. 11, 10:00-12:00 at Barbara's house.  Directions are in your email.  If you'd like to play "Dirty Santa" please bring a wrapped gift valued at $15.  See you there!

November, already?

It's hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by.  It's November already!
At our October meeting, we enjoyed a time of snacks, fellowship, business, and observance of Founders' Month.  I hope each of you celebrated Alpha Delta Kappa during October.
Our November meeting has been tricky to schedule.  We settled on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6:00 p.m. at Verner.  Hostesses for the November meeting are Kristi, Sherry, Tracy, and Gladys.  At the meeting, we will have the Pledge and Reinstatement Ceremonies.  If you nominated a pledge or know of a reinstatement, please inform them of the date/place/time.
Also remember to bring your bears (at least 13-15" tall).  These will either go to the state project or to local police/fire stations.
Dues are $60.00  If you haven't remitted them, please do so at the November meeting or by pony to Lisa at Verner. Thank you!

October Greetings

Fall is in the air! (hopefully)
Thanks for checking the blog for updates.
You can subscribe to the RSS Feed or become a "Follower" of the blog so you'll know when there's a new post.  Both of those functions are now in the sidebar.
Also new in the sidebar is the Hostesses page.

I hope you all got your email regarding Alpha Delta Kappa Month.  I included a link to some suggested activities. Here's another page with more. It's part of the membership site, so you'll probably have to login to see it. Your login and password are the same. (4 letter password + 123)  Ask a sister if you don't know the four letters.

Please invite former members to reinstate - "Once a Sister, Always a Sister!"
Bring their names, as well as names of any new prospective pledges, to the October meeting.
I look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting!

A New Biennium Begins

Our first meeting of the new biennium was held Thursday, Sept. 23 at Leanna's home.  Eleven sisters shared a wonderful potluck supper.  We missed those of you who were unable to attend and hope to see you soon!

Our next meeting is October 21, 2010 at Verner Elementary.  We will observe Alpha Delta Kappa month with a special Founders' Day Program and maybe an encore performance from the 'Tater sisters!  You don't want to miss that! :)
Also, we will bring the names of potential pledges to the October meeting.  Please recommend ladies who have at least three years' experience teaching and who you think will make a positive contribution to our sorority.  We are also extending an invitation to former members to reinstate.  If you know ladies who were formerly members, please contact them to see if they would like to rejoin us and if so, bring their names to the October meeting.  The reinstatement process is relatively simple and requires just a $10 reinstatement fee in addition to the yearly dues. "Once a sister, always a sister" is our theme for the reinstatement drive.

Dues this year are $60, which represents an increase from state/national of $4 and local increase of $1.  Dues may be paid in installments beginning now. You may send those to our treasurer, Lisa.  Dues for new pledges are $65.  Please be sure to inform potential pledges of the dues responsibility.

If you are willing to serve as our chapter's Membership Chairman, please contact Deanna as soon as possible!

We need a location for two meetings - November and March.  If you would like to host us in your home, please contact Deanna.  Thanks again to Leanna for hosting us this month!

In Memory

Dear Susan, we will miss your smiling face, your encouraging words, your warm heart.

Please keep Susan's family in your prayers.  We sent flowers from the sorority.  Several sisters were able to attend the visitation and/or the funeral service. If you would like to send a card, please check your school email for the address.

Epsilon Chapter Recognized!

In the State President, Frances Revel's final newsletter dated May 2010, Epsilon chapter was recognized under the heading "Alabama Membership Success Stories"
You will remember that our chapter received the Chapter Revitalization Award at the 2009 International Convention.  This is an enormous accomplishment and is directly the result of Calondra's hard work.
Thank you Calondra for all you've done for Epsilon Chapter.  Your contributions will be remembered by all your sisters for years to come!

Have a Great Summer - Keep in Touch

Here's the first post of our new online home. Calondra told us at the May meeting that the AWESOME website she created will soon become a paid site. Since funds are limited for such ventures, and since Blogger is free, we agreed that moving over to a blog would be the best choice.

We hope to see you all at the West Central District Meeting, hosted by our chapter, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church.  "Imagine the Possibilities"

Have a GREAT summer!
